Good to know, in both plans

  • Kamakhya Temple opens to devotees at 8:00 AM (5:30 AM is the temple's own ritual). The ₹501 special darshan ticket is sold online only, on the temple's site, and must be booked in our own names.
  • Kaziranga safaris: jeeps seat 6, so the group needs 4 jeeps. Jeep entry is 7:30–10:00 AM and 1:30–3:00 PM. Elephant safari is at dawn only and seats are limited.
  • Vehicles: Assam vehicles for the Assam part and Meghalaya vehicles for Shillong and Cherrapunji, because of the taxi unions' dispute earlier this year.
  • Brahmaputra cruise: sunset cruise 4:30–5:30 PM (₹700–850) or dinner cruise 7:30–9:00 PM (₹1,900 with buffet).
  • Return flight: Sunday 15 Nov fares are already high; that leg should be booked first.

How we will book: on the airline's own site, in bookings of up to 9 seats, family by family, so that seniors (60+) get the airline's discount. Names must match the ID exactly.

Booking status for the whole group

Bookings are made together once names are in and the plan is chosen. This page shows where each one stands.

How to use this page

  1. My family: add every person travelling from your family. Type each name exactly as printed on the ID that person will carry. Fill in gender, date of birth, the ID and its number, food choice and who shares a room with whom. Press Save, then upload each person's Aadhaar or ID copy.
  2. Plan & vote: read both plans, tick the hotels you prefer, choose Proposal 2 or Proposal 3 and press Save my choices.
  3. Everyone: see the room list (Room 1, Room 2…), who is coming and what each family has chosen. Tick names there to send ID copies to a hotel or agent.
  4. Bookings: once flights, hotels and safaris are booked, your PNR, rooms and your share of the cost appear here.
  5. You can come back and correct details until names are closed. After tickets are issued, a name change costs money.

What to carry

  • The original photo ID you entered here, for every traveller including children. It is checked at the airport, at each hotel and at the Kaziranga safari gate.
  • Warm layers: Shillong and early-morning safaris are cold in November.
  • Comfortable walking shoes, a cap and a small day bag for sightseeing days.
  • Regular medicines for the full week, in hand baggage.
